Outreach Program

Return to Owner's Resources
During this time of uncertainty, your HOA President Dan Gallagher recently asked a few community members, “what else can be done to help those in the community if needed”.  After a few conversations, a committee was formed, and ideas were generated to create a Nakoma Community Outreach Program that is useful today and beneficial to community members for the long term.

Program Details:  How the program works and what it provides to all owners, can be found in the attached document, Nakoma Community Association Outreach Program.  The Program is based on the concept of Community helping Community with a single point of contact for owners in our community to obtain assistance and help with essential needs.  There are four community volunteers who are ready to assist owners if they are ill and need groceries, medication or transportation to medical facilities and appointments.  It takes only one phone call to Ann McBride, Nakoma Community Association Office Manager to set the wheels in motion for a volunteer to assist.

Other Program Resources: The committee felt it important to provide reliable information about local resources and contact numbers related to protocols for medical assistance, links to COVID-19 information and a very comprehensive listing of local businesses and restaurants, their contact information and hours of operation.  There’s even a way for owners to obtain face masks that are sewn by a community member.

Also, if you haven’t already done so, we encourage all community members to join the Gold Mountain Neighbors private Facebook site where information is shared and connections are made.

Community helping Community is greater than just us.  If you haven’t already done so, please consider donating to help those in our greater community who have been impacted the most.  We’ve included a few options in the Program document for how you can help.  The Portola Food Pantry has been overwhelmed by folks needing assistance and is in desperate need of monetary donations so they can continue to help those less fortunate.  Sonja at the Graeagle Mill Works is cooking daily meals and delivering those meals to folks who can’t get out, are low income or unable to pay.  These are just a couple of examples of how you can help support the greater good in Eastern Plumas County.

The Nakoma community has always had a reputation of rallying and supporting those in need.  Let’s show our strength in numbers and do our best to be leaders.  If you would like to speak to a committee member, you can reach us through the contact information below.

We sincerely hope this finds you well and safe.
